This was the first time that I have ever done a genre analysis. When it was first mentioned that we had to complete a genre analysis I thought it was going to be useless, “why do we have to read all of these assignments and answer these questions.” Even though I thought it was going to be useless it turned out to be really helpful. Completing a genre analysis gave us the opportunity to understand what we have to do in our work while seeing what past students did and what we could improve.For all of the major writing assignments we were required to complete a genre analysis.
