Stance

Attitude toward your topic

Throughout the semester, we were able to formulate our own position regarding our topic for each of the major assignments. Stance was a rhetorical element that I was already familiar. The stance of your writing is important because it affects your tone and the information you include.

For example, in my memo my stance was that “many students are facing problems and are worried about their education because of teachers using blackboard collaborate ultra.” Because that was my stance I was able to explain problems students were facing, find information on why that’s happening, and suggest that all CCNY professors should use ZOOM as their teaching platform.
